NOS/NSQ Electrical installation maintenance and repairs

The National Skills Qualification in Electrical Installation, Maintenance, and Repairs is a multi-level program (Levels 1, 2, &amp; 3) aimed at producing skilled electricians capable of performing a wide range of electrical tasks, from basic domestic installations to more complex system troubleshooting and maintenance. The curriculum is designed to be skills-based and aligned with current trends in the engineering profession, both in Nigeria and internationally. Key areas covered in this qualification include:<ul><li>Foundational Skills: Communication, occupational health and safety, and teamwork in a work environment.</li><li>Electrical Fundamentals: Identification of components, symbols, drawings, layouts, and proper handling of tools, measuring instruments, and materials.</li><li>Basic and Advanced Wiring: Execution of basic electrical domestic installations, as well as an understanding and application of various wiring methods like surface, conduit, and trunking.</li><li>Protective Devices: Understanding the purpose, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical protective devices.</li><li>Domestic and Specialized Installations: Carrying out domestic electrical installations, including lighting and power circuits, and installing fire alarm systems, audio-visual (AV), and CCTV systems.</li><li>Testing, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance: Performing various tests (continuity, polarity, earth effectiveness, short-circuit) on electrical systems, identifying and rectifying faults, and maintaining electrical equipment.</li><li>Cables and Earthing: Identifying, installing, jointing, terminating, and testing various types of cables and conductors, along with implementing electrical earthing techniques.</li><li>Machines and Panels: Installation, maintenance, and servicing of AC and DC machines, and assembling and installing electrical panels.</li></ul><h3 id="dc74bf3c-e169-4731-85f9-6992f4f4eea3" data-toc-id="dc74bf3c-e169-4731-85f9-6992f4f4eea3"></h3>
